I. RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize the City Manager to execute a task order with Mead & Hunt Inc. for Airport Engineering Design Scope of Services for the Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) Replacement.
II. BACKGROUND:
The City of Coalinga issued a request for Statements for Qualifications for Airport Design and Engineering Services on May 19, 2026. Responses were due by 4:00pm on June 22, 2026.
One firm, Mead & Hunt, Inc submitted qualification for Airport Design Engineering Consulting Services for the design of the AWOS at the Airport.
III. DISCUSSION:
The City submitted an application to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to complete the engineering design of a new Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) at the airport. The project will improve the reliability and availability of weather information for pilots, enhance operational safety, and support continued compliance with FAA airport standards.
The attached task order is for Mead & Hunt Inc. to provide the design and bid administration services for the AWOS replacement.
IV. ALTERNATIVES:
Do not authorize the City Manager to execute a task order with Mead & Hunt Inc.
V. FISCAL IMPACT:
The total cost of the design engineering agreement is Ninety-nine Thousand One Hundred Seventy Dollars ($99,170.00). Funding for the project is provided through the FAA Airport Infrastructure Grant , which will reimburse 90% ($89,253) of eligible project cost. The City is responsible for the 10% local match ($9,917). Airport Engineering & Consultants 101-435-88091 will fund this project. | | |
