I. RECOMMENDATION:
City Manager and Financial Services Director recommends City Council to:
1. Adopt Resolution No. 4316 – Amending the FY25/26 Operating and Capital Budget
2. Consideration of approval of the Transfer of Appropriations No. 26-021 in the amount of $35,000.00.
II. BACKGROUND:
The submersible pumps at the Sandalwood lift station were installed in 1992 and have a life expectancy of 10-20 years. The submersible pumps at the Sandalwood lift station have been rebuilt several times throughout the years, the last time as early as March 2024.
III. DISCUSSION:
The submersible pumps are crucial for operating and pumping all sewer from the Sandalwood neighborhood to the sewer plant. The pumps have outlasted their life expectancy of 10-20 years and we are currently operating in an emergency situation using rented pumps pumping in a bypass method.
Two New Submersible Pumps are a one-time project for FY 25/26 with $60,000 allocated. The quote received is for $93,208.50 which is a difference of 32,208.50. Staff is requesting an additional $35,000 to cover the cost of the parts as well as any additional shipping costs not reflected in the attached quote.
IV. ALTERNATIVES:
Not approve appropriation transfer.
V. FISCAL IMPACT:
This will impact the Wastewater Enterprise Fund-Fund Balance by reducing it by $35,000 to cover the additional cost. The budget for account 503-521-98040 will be amended from $108,300 to $133,300. |
