I. RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt a motion approving the appointment of Mayor Pro-Tem Roger Schindler as the City of Coalinga’s alternate representative to the Fresno Council of Governments (Fresno COG) Policy Board.
II. BACKGROUND:
The Fresno Council of Governments (Fresno COG) serves as the regional planning agency for Fresno County, coordinating transportation planning, housing, and other regional policy initiatives among its member jurisdictions.
The City of Coalinga’s Mayor serves as the City’s primary representative to the Fresno COG Policy Board. Member agencies may also appoint an alternate representative to attend meetings and exercise voting authority in the absence of the primary representative.
III. DISCUSSION:
Mayor Pro-Tem Roger Schindler has agreed to serve as the City’s alternate representative to the Fresno COG Policy Board. Appointing an alternate ensures continuity of representation and voting participation when the Mayor is unavailable to attend scheduled or special meetings.
This appointment supports the City’s ongoing engagement in regional decision-making related to transportation funding, housing policy, and other matters of importance to the City of Coalinga and the greater Fresno County region.
