Prepared by:Marissa Trejo, City Manager

I.    RECOMMENDATION:

There is no staff recommendation.

II.    BACKGROUND:

The League's 2022 Annual Conference is scheduled for September 7th through the 9th in Long Beach, California.  An important part of the Annual Conference is the Annual Business Meeting (during General Assembly), scheduled on Friday, September 9, 2022.  At this meeting, League members will consider and take action on resolutions that establish League Policy.

In order to vote at the Annual Business Meeting, the City Council must designate a voting delegate and up to two alternate voting delegates.  The City Council has designated Councilman Horn as this year's voting delegate and Councilman Ramirez as the alternate voting delegate, who may vote in the event that Councilman Horn is unable to serve in his capacity.

III.   DISCUSSION:

This year, one resolution regarding proposed amendments to the Cal Cities bylaws has been introduced for consideration at the Annual Conference.

In previous years, the League's resolutions have been brought before the Council to ensure the Council's consensus of the resolution(s) to be voted on.

Council should vote in support or opposition of the bylaw changes so that the voting delegate(s) know how to vote during the general meeting at the annual conference.

IV.   ALTERNATIVES:

None.

V.    FISCAL IMPACT:

None.
