This item was requested as a Future Agenda Item by Councilman Adkisson.
II. BACKGROUND:
Other Cities in California that have a similar tax in place include:
San Francisco
Oakland
III. DISCUSSION:
This item would direct staff to bring back a tax plan for Council consideration. The tax would be on vacant commercial buildings in the downtown area. If approved by Council, the tax plan would then be taken to the voters.
IV. ALTERNATIVES:
Do not direct staff to prepare a tax plan.
V. FISCAL IMPACT:
