I. RECOMMENDATION:
Approve modifications to program
II. BACKGROUND:
During the April 21st meeting, the turf replacement program was approved to begin.
III. DISCUSSION:
During the first two days applications were available to residents, 35 were received. The majority of people wanted synthetic lawn. While not expressly prohibited by the program’s language, the current approved guidelines describe a plan that only allows a maximum of 50% of the converted area to be a permeable non-plant material.
Staff proposes an additional option in the program to instead to allow for a 100% conversion to synthetic lawn if requested. Also, given that the maximum benefit under the original program is $2,100, staff recommends that this amount be applied to synthetic lawns. The rebate is suggested at 2.00 per square foot with a maximum of 1000 square feet.
IV. ALTERNATIVES:
Do not approve the changes to the program guidelines.
V. FISCAL IMPACT:
There would be no additional fiscal impact outside of what was approved for the original program. |
