I.    RECOMMENDATION:

City Council Approval and Authorization for the Assistant City Manager to Execute two (2) Task Orders with MKN and Associates related to water improvements at the Coalinga Water Treatment Plant

II.    BACKGROUND:

The City of Coalinga passed a water bond in 2020 where there were several water infrastructure projects identified on a list to undertake as part of the water infrastructure bond. Two (2) of these projects were the raw water intake screens replacement (moss screens) and the other was related to wash water reclamation and sludge drying bed improvements. The City of Coalinga entered into a professional services agreement with MKN to provide engineering design and construction support services for the proposed water infrastructure projects and all subsequent work was to undertaken through task orders.    

III.   DISCUSSION:

MKN has provided two (2) task orders (Task Order #1 and #4) for design services related to replacing the raw water intake screens (moss screens) and the other related to improvements to the wash water reclamation and sludge drying beds. The scope of work has been provided on each of the task orders which have been included in this report.   

IV.   ALTERNATIVES:

None. 

V.    FISCAL IMPACT:

MKN has proposed to perform the scope of work for both tasks on a not to exceed budget of $60,264.00. This will be funded from a combination of bond funding and the professional services fund of the water treatment plant.
