I. RECOMMENDATION:
This is a future agenda item request by Councilman Ramirez. Staff is providing some preliminary information for the Council to review and direct staff accordingly.
II. BACKGROUND:
At the last City Council meeting Councilman Ramirez requested that staff provide a cost estimate for installing a solid, pavilion type, structure over the play structures at Centennial Park and Sandalwood Park.
III. DISCUSSION:
Staff had worked with the City Engineer last year on cost estimates to install fabric shades over the play structures as well as a pavilion for both Centennial and Sandalwood park. Although the pavilion was not specifically for the play structures, staff has a rough estimate of the costs of the structures.
To furnish and install a pre-engineered and fabricated 20' x 40' pavilion structure over a single play structure it would run between $50,000 - $60,000 dollars.
As an alternative, to furnish and install a fabric shade structure with steel tube supports and concrete footings over an existing play structure, it would run approximately $35,000.
IV. ALTERNATIVES:
This is information only.
V. FISCAL IMPACT:
This would be a General Fund expense and is not budgeted. | | |
