| | | | | | | | I. RECOMMENDATION:
Council Authorization for the Assistant City Manager to Execute a Task Order with MKN Engineering to Prepare a Preliminary Engineering Report including recommendations, evaluation of two roof replacement alternatives, and associated cost estimates related to the Rehabilitation of Derrick Reservoir.
II. BACKGROUND:
The City executed an on-call contract for services with MKN on March 22, 2021 to provide engineering services related to the recently approved water bond projects, most specifically the rehabilitation of the Derrick Ave Water Reservoir. This task order is the first in the process of rehabbing the tank.
III. DISCUSSION:
MKN will prepare a preliminary engineering report including recommendations, evaluation of two roof replacement alternatives, and associated cost estimates in order to guide the next phase of the project which will include choosing the method in which the City will proceed with rehab and subsequently begin preliminary design and preparing the project specifications. A copy of the proposal and full scope of work is attached to the staff report.
IV. ALTERNATIVES:
- Staff has no alternative as this step is necessary to fully understand the project parameters as well as allow staff to make educated and informed decisions when choosing a course of action for rehab.
V. FISCAL IMPACT:
MKN's services will be performed on a time and materials basis per their standard 2021 rate schedule in their master on-call contract, with a budget not to exceed $44,064. All costs associated with this task order will be paid through bond proceeds. | | |
