| | | | | | | | Subject: | Adopt Resolution No. 3944 Supporting the Voter's Choice Act | Meeting Date: | February 6, 2020 | From: | Marissa Trejo, City Manager | Prepared by: | Marissa Trejo, City Manager |

| | | | | | | | I. RECOMMENDATION:
The City Manager recommends the City Council adopt Resolution No. 3944, a resolution supporting the Voter's Choice Act.
II. BACKGROUND:
The Fresno County Board of Supervisors voted to transition to the Voter's Choice Act ("VCA") election model on March 21, 2019. The new voting model will be in place for the March 2020 election. These changes will increase voter's opportunity to receive service by increasing the days and opportunities for voters to vote, and reduces the total number of staff that must be recruited and trained for elections.
III. DISCUSSION:
Under the VCA election model, the county will automatically mail every voter a ballot, provide additional secure ballot drop-off boxes located throughout the county and establish regional Voting Assistance Centers, replacing multiple precinct locations. Voting Assistance Centers will allow voters to cast a ballot in-person at any vote center in their county.
IV. ALTERNATIVES:
Do not adopt Resolution No. 3944, a resolution supporting the Voter's Choice Act.
V. FISCAL IMPACT:
