I.    RECOMMENDATION:

Award the Department's Public Safety staff with  recognition of outstanding performance.



II.    BACKGROUND:

Over the last year the police department's communication center has been working with 1 full time dispatcher, two records clerks, the assistant to the police chief and two public safety dispatchers that are in training.

III.   DISCUSSION:

The Communications center is responsible for answering 3 business lines, 2 911 lines, responds to radio traffic and handles the front counter.  Three of the current dispatchers are working out of class while performing their primary duties. 

 

On July 22, 2019 the Coalinga Police Department's Communications Center received recognition from the California Operation of Emergency Services (CALOES) for being above the state average for answering the communities 911 calls in under 15 seconds and being rated at 97.41% which is above the states average of 95%.  Additionally with in the last 12 month period they have answered 5,357 911 calls and have not had one missed 911 calls in a 24 hour period all year.
