I. RECOMMENDATION:
Staff requests the Council's approval to add a Negative Pressure Odor Solution for the Department's Evidence Room.
II. BACKGROUND:
The police department's evidence room takes in a variety of evidence to include narcotics and marijuana. There are times when the smell from these items are so strong we are forced to open the back door of the police department to remove the smell from the building.
III. DISCUSSION:
The police department has received a quote from EMCOR for the installation of the negative odor air solution.
By installing this system the police department can take in these illegal drugs and remove the odor from the building without having to open the back door making the working environment safer and healthier for the employees.
IV. ALTERNATIVES:
The council can deny request.
V. FISCAL IMPACT:
The fiscal impact would be $15,673.00 account number 101-413-9805, Capital Purchases. The purchase would come from the General Fund. This item was not specifically budgeted, but the savings in the actual Building Wide UPS Cost from what was anticipated would be enough to cover this expense. |
